Congratulatory address of Artsakh Republic President Bako Sahakyan in connection with the Day of Journalists
Dear journalists
I cordially congratulate you on your professional holiday.
23 of May will henceforth be celebrated in Artsakh as a day of journalists. It is another evidence of a proper attitude of our public and authorities towards the important and difficult job of the journalist.
You have always been the mouthpiece for hopes and expectation of our people. From the very first days of the Artsakh movement most of you settled down to defending the Motherland, some of you perished in this struggle. Eternal memory to them!
Our people have embarked on the path of democratic development and have been firmly building a state where civil rights and liberties are of supreme importance. Freedom of speech is among fundamental human rights, which is fixed in the NKR Constitution. For this very reason nowadays the role of the journalists is becomes much more important.
Dear journalists, you are considered a peculiar bridge between the public and the authorities. I want to be sure that all of you are well aware of the whole responsibility of this mission and will realize it with dignity always being adhered to moral norms, preserving high civil position and professionalism. Impartial and constructive stance, compassionate attitude towards native country and people, aspiration for eliminating shortcomings and further developing success should be of primary importance for all of you.
I congratulate all the journalists of Artsakh once again and wish robust health, happiness and successes in private life and work.
23 May, 2010 Stepanakert.
